Even if your computer is password protected, your password can still be reset in single user mode, or when the computer is started from a disk, much like that if your windows BIOS isn’t password protected, the password can still be reset.

To password protect single user mode, and everything else the computer can start up on (not including HDD) you will need the DVD you purchased with your operating system or computer, unless your computer runs on v10.3.9 or below, where you should simply download the software here.

The software on the disk will be located under “/Applications/Utilities/” and will be called either “Firmware password Utility” or “Open Firmware Password”

Follow the instructions on the screen, and set a password.

Tethering your computer will allow other devices to share your computers internet connection.

To do this on Mac OS X, you will need to open your ‘System Preferences’ folder, and hit the ‘Sharing’ button. It’s under the “Internet & Wireless” category.

If your computer is connected to the internet through more than once source, you must specify what source you want to share your internet connection from, under the “Share your connection from” tab. (Ethernet, FireWire, USB Modems, etc)

If you want to share your internet connection wirelessly (via AirPort), you should hit the “AirPort Options…” button to secure your network.

Upgrade MySQL to 5 Yahoo Small Buisness

Yahoo finally updated their Small Buisness platform to support MySQL 5. Upgrading is really, and here is how:

Go the control panel for your website here.
As soon as you login, there should be a message asking you to update. Click it.
You might need to update your PHP. Click the “Go to PHP version” and follow the on screen instructions.
Go back to the “Return Database” page, and hit the button. Your done!

Sometimes, you will receive a error message saying you should repair your database. Ignore this message and installing your database again.
